Edward M. Beaupre, of all of my husband's ancestors, may be the most interesting.  There is one thing I am certain of is that he has had one of the most mangled names I have ever seen.  The mangling ranges from Beausprit to Borper, which has made tracking him, difficult.
Edward was born in France 14 October 1830 and died 12 October 1913 in Crystal Run, Town of Wallkill, Orange County, New York.  His death certificate does not indicate his parents names, it has --- Beaupre as the father's name, with a superscripted M.D. above the surname and France given as his birthplace, in the space for his mother's name is --------- and the the birthplace space, it says Supposed to be France.  The particulars were given for the death certificate by Nial C Jacobs.  Nial was Edward's son-in-law, no doubt much of the information probably came from Frances Emily A. Beaupre Jacobs, Nial's wife.  There are not any revelations from the death certificate, fortunately it gives his exact age 82 years, 11 months and 29 days, which, along with his death date gives us his birthdate.
The first evidence we have of Edward is in the 1860 census records where he appears as Edward Beausprit, age 29.  He is listed as a farm laborer and born in France.  From the 1900 census records we learn that he emigrated to the United States in 1859.
On 30 December 1891, we find the report of his wife Mary E.'s death.  The next we hear of him is in 1892, he has gotten himself involved in a pension forgery scheme with John Studor and Harrison Bull.  We don't know the details of how Edward was involved the case went on for several months with Harrison Bull pleading guilty and John Studor and Edward being found not guilty.  Harrison Bull was probably exonerated also after the not guilty verdict.
Edward stayed under the radar for several years after the pension scheme, in 1909 he married for a second time to Georgia Lorena Seymoure Ingerick.  She had made the newspapers as a victim of an assault which resulted in the death of one of her daughters.  They seemed to stay married until Edward's death in 1913, however, on the death certificate he is listed as widowed, Georgia did not die until 1918 and they were enumerated separately in the 1910 census.  Georgia Lorena Seymoure was born November 1859 and died 14 November 1918.  She was formerly married to Daniel W. Ingerick.  Edward and Georgia had no children together.
